Easiest Lemon & Garlic Hummus

Hummus is one of the most versatile foods these days. For vegans, its almost becoming a staple, and we Love it! 

We add it to salads, dip fresh veggies (carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, celery, radishes) into it, use it as a spread on toast or in sandwiches, enjoy it as an add on with brown rice and grilled or steamed veggies ... and in so many other ways!

Here's a go to recipe for hummus that is quick, simple and also can be used as a base to make other flavored hummus (add in cilantro, basil, mint, sun-dried tomatoes, garam masala etc etc). 


2 cups canned or soft boiled chickpeas

1tsp cumin

4 cloves garlic OR 1½ tsp dried garlic flakes

1 ½ tsp sea salt

1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

2 tbsp tahini

1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

½ cup water or remaining water from drained chickpeas

Rind Juice of 1 large lemon


Add all ingredients into a powerful blender and blend until smooth. Add more water if the consistency is too thick. Check seasoning and add salt/spices according to preference. 

As simple as that! Enjoy :)
